A photo of my Megalodon Shark tooth - in full view it is approximately life size so it is on big tooth! Wasn't sure which category to put this in, not a category for fossils. Figured Geology would be most fitting!

Anyway, this is the very big tip-of-the-iceberg of my fossil collection (yes, I collect fossils didn't you know?). Took this shot, liked it so I've uploaded it here! Might add some of my other fossils but they are currently on display at the visitor centre where I do my voluntary work!

Megalodon was a giant shark that died out around 2-3 million years ago and is currently the largest known predatory shark reaching lengths of 55-60 feet. It is a relative of today's Great White Shark ans Mako Shark. There were a number of "Megateeth" sharks roaming the oceans, Megalodon was the last of their line.

That is a HUGE tooth! :fear: Glad I didn't run into the shark with it's teeth still intact!

Now this one is really impressive, I've heard about this beast. The subject is impressive too, the fossilised structure of the tooth is quite beautiful :)

Thanks :D I spent ages trying to get hold of one of these. I wanted a perfect tooth but didn't have the money to pay for one! Got lucky with this one though, the market on eBay ended up flooded with these so I managed to snatch a bargin :D

I have two of these teeth in the shop I work at. Very cool stuff. Maybe we could share fossil photos someday ;)

Cool! I'm looking at getting a blue meg, they are gorgeous lol

I'd love to see some fossil pics :D All my fossils are up on my website - [link] I'm into the ancient shark teeth right now, got four arriving soon and one of them is a tooth I've been wanting to get hold of for a while because the shark that owned it is too cool lol

Amazing website! You have a cool collection!

I don't own the fossils (though I'm slowly building a collection - expensive!) but I do admire it every day for 8 hours lol

I'll see what photos I can shoot tomorrow and put them up in DA.

I'd like to see the new ones your getting! Fossils are cool and shark fossils more so!

Thanks :D

It is an expensive hobby lol I did have some dinosaur and reptile fossils but I sold them to focus on the shark fossils. They looked odd among all the shark teeth anyway and it would be even worse now! :D

Should have the new ones at the end of next week, maybe sooner depending on the post service (they are being sent from the USA). :D

Looking forward to seeing the photos!
